Budapest is divided into 2 parts, the hilly part of Buda on the Western Bank of the
Danube, and the flat plain of
Pest on the Eastern Bank. These 2 parts of the City were
once separate towns and were merged in 1873.

Budapest boasts 100 famed thermal springs and 12 medicinal baths within it’s
boundaries, where 19 million gallons of thermal water rise to the surface each day.

Budapest’s tradition of excellence in the Arts is manifest in it’s numerous museums,
collection of historic artifacts, opera houses, music and dance. The country has
produced a number of world famous composers, amongst them Franz Liszt, prominent
composer and pianist of the 1800’s.
