Coming to Hungary by Plane
This is the most convenient way, especially if you are coming from a far away location.
The Web lets you search easily for the best air fares and never puts you on hold for a travel
agent. But beware: even if a site searches multiple airlines, it may not offer the cheapest
fares possible - some sites have special deals only available to them. Investigate several
sites before you purchase your tickets.
Check several computer airplane ticket reservation systems and online ticket brokers to
find available flights and get an idea of price ranges. Prices vary from broker to broker, and
some have special deals.
Give yourself plenty of time to look. This way you can search many different sites. You can
find the same flight on different sites for different costs. When choosing your dates,
usually and generally Tuesday's and Thursday are the cheapest dates to fly on. But try
doing searches on different days of the week and different combinations, and see how it
effects the cost. As weeks go on, the costs change.
Notice if the site gives you a choice of delivery options. If it does, choose the one that's
best for you. If the site offers an "e-ticket" option, that's usually best because you don't
have to pay any shipping charges or be available to receive a shipment.
Pay by credit card on a secure server. If you're not comfortable with online credit card
transactions, you may be able to pay by check. If you can't find any information on
alternative payment methods on the site, contact the site's administrators.
The best fares, especially for international destinations, are usually found through
consolidators. Consolidators typically focus on specific areas, such as Eastern Europe or
South America.
Getting from the Airport to your hotel in Budapest
You can get a shuttle from the airport to most central hotels. Prices are reasonable,
service is great. The Airport Minibus in the arrivals lounge costs 2,300 HUF single or
3,900 HUF return and will bring you to any address within the city limits. Call (+36 1)
296-8555 at least 24 hours before your return journey to arrange collection at your hotel.

Check an airline's official site for any
deals offered only through the airline
itself. Many of the best deals are
offered for flights that week.
Access the site that offers the best
deal. When prompted, enter
necessary information such as time
and location of arrival and departure,
number of passengers and flight
class (first class, economy, etc.).
Take the 200 bus from outside the arrivals lounge to the last
stop of the M3/blue metro line, Kőbánya Kispest. From here,
take the metro to the city. The metro stop Deák Ferenc tér is
the junction of all three metro lines, where you can change to
the M1/yellow line or M2/red line. On each part of the journey,
you would need to validate a transport ticket. More on

A taxi from the only permissible operator, Zóna Taxi, typically
costs 4,300 each way (fixed fare) but according to some
customers, they are not that pleasant to use.
